dia de los muertos gifts! + october trade post
Oct. 25th, 2025 12:29 pmwhile we're celebrating colors halloween (come get green candies, by the way), there's also another holiday coming up--día de los muertos!
día de los muertos is a celebration of life and death, where we remember our loved ones who have passed on and share food and drinks that they enjoyed in life with them. the spirit of the holiday is about sharing and community, so take some snacks and i'll share some cards and crayons with you! either ten random cards or five random crayons, depending on which you pick.
pan de muerto: a soft sweet bread lightly flavored with anise, cinnamon, and orange zest. the pattern represents crossed bones to remind us of our own mortality! lately i've even seen some filled with cajeta (caramel made with goat milk), chocolate, or mazapan (a candy made from peanuts and sugar). it goes great with champurrado (hot chocolate but better)!
corundas michoacanas: if you prefer something savory! masa (a type of corn flour used also for things like tortillas and tamales) shaped into triangles and steamed, and then topped with a sauce made of tomatoes and chile de árbol. they're a traditional dish from the region of mexico my family's from, and dates back to pre-hispanic times!
you have until november 2nd (the last day of día de los muertos) to make your choice (and if you'd want to try them/have tried them before heheh)! also, please tell me about any cultural foods you like that remind you of home and family!
feel free to offer trades here as well (click my banner below!), or just pick your dish and yap about food with me
